Today I'd like to introduce you to some T-shirts.
I don't think many of the customers who come to our store dress in just a T-shirt, even in the summer, and most people wear long-sleeved clothing that is suitable for the humid heat, even in the summer.
We try to have as many long-sleeved shirts and other similar items available in our store as possible, but I think there will come a time when you will feel you have had enough of the scorching heat.
Personally, I normally wear long sleeves and long pants all year round, but when the temperature is so high that I would melt, I can't do that.
But, we want to enjoy the seasonal characteristics provided by nature as comfortably as possible.
That's when T-shirts come in.
But rather than thinking of wearing a T-shirt as something you have to do, I want to enjoy wearing it.
However, I don't think such T-shirts are available anywhere.
That's why our store is a "select shop" where we carefully select our T-shirts.
So, ultimately, what is needed is the original essence of each brand, within the "limited framework of clothing design" that anyone can instantly imagine - a T-shirt.
Here's what I look for in a t-shirt:
・Can be worn normally (no need to worry about anything at the park or Aeon Mall)
・But it's not of average quality
・Luxury is necessary (it should not look sloppy and should not look out of place when wearing nice pants)
・Resistant to washing
・It's naturally cool
・T-shirts made with care
The end.
It's quite normal.
But I just can't find anything that satisfies all of the above.
T-shirts originally came from American casual athletic wear, so many of them still have that feel to them, and when an older man wears them, they make him look really old. When I was in my early twenties, I used to pursue American casual fashion in Amemura, but now I'm not particularly fond of American casual fashion or anything, so there are very few T-shirts that satisfy this trend.
But there are some good ones out there.
So, I'll introduce them one by one.
As I said at the beginning, today I'm Yamauchi.
Coming up we will be introducing nonnotte, Bengt Paris, and more Yamauchi (undyed linen T-shirts), but first we will look at Yamauchi.
Yamauchi
Strong twist free cut punch short sleeve T-shirt
material _ COTTON 83%, POLYURETHANE 12%, NYLON 5%
color _ CHARCOAL NAVY
size_2,3,4,5
this.
Ever since Mr. Yamauchi of Yamauchi made this T-shirt, it has been available every year.
The reason is that it's an amazing T-shirt.
Based on Yamauchi's ideas, the fabric, stitching, T-shirt outline, coolness, appearance, and satisfactory durability.
First, about the fabric.
In terms of texture, as the name suggests, it is a type of fabric called punch, which is extremely elastic and has a smooth surface finish.
However, it is extremely rare to have it finished in this mixture.
It's 83% cotton, 12% polyurethane, and 5% nylon.
Typically, most T-shirts are 100% cotton, but this one is different.
83% cotton.
It's made up mostly of cotton, but it's a bit unusual.
The front is made entirely of cotton, and as the name of the T-shirt suggests, it is made from tightly twisted cotton yarn.
Compared to regular T-shirt cotton, this cotton is made by twisting the threads "extra" during the spinning process, and also during the yarn making process, making it even stronger.
This gives the surface of the fabric a very smooth appearance, a strong luster for cotton, and improves the drape of the fabric.
Also, the fabric is tightly woven without any strain, so it has a very fine texture.
It may be hard to tell from the enlarged photo of the fabric above, but...
So, rather than being a casual T-shirt for casual weekend wear, I think the Yamauchi one I'm introducing this time has a surprisingly luxurious feel for a T-shirt.
And this is the back side.
I had a hard time focusing the camera, so it might be hard to see.
As mentioned above, the entire surface is made of cotton.
The remaining blend, 12% polyurethane and 5% nylon, comes into play here.
And these two ingredients play a major role.
If you look at the close-up photo of the back fabric, can you see that it looks a little different from the front?
once again.
table.
back.
Can you see that the back side is a little shiny?
This is because of polyurethane.
Generally, the back side is made up of about half cotton and half polyurethane.
However, according to Yamauchi-san, it is extremely difficult to knit "highly twisted cotton" and "polyurethane" together and intertwine the two materials.
That's why he says it's not a fabric that can be found anywhere.
Furthermore, this tightly twisted cotton and polyurethane is on the reverse side, which touches the skin, which also contributes to a cool feeling when worn.
And then this.
This T-shirt is made from raw fabric, both front and back, and is entirely cut-off except for the seams of the body.
The edges of the fabric swing freely.
Normally, if the fabric is cut, threads will come out from the edge and fray.
However, this T-shirt will not fray because "polyurethane supports the tightly twisted cotton from the back."
Furthermore, it does not curl, a phenomenon that occurs when cutting regular T-shirts, where the edges of the fabric curl up.
The above "no fraying" and "no curling" means that unless it gets caught on something, it can be washed repeatedly with no problems.
neck.
cuff.
hem.
The edges of the T-shirt fabric are all left raw like this.
Because of this, when worn, the cuffs and hem move lightly and freely, giving a high degree of freedom, and I always feel that, even though it is a T-shirt, it looks very sophisticated.
I have written about the intricacy of Yamauchi's sewing on this blog for many years, but as a brand, the only clothes that are finished with raw edges are those in this fabric series.
This is because Yamauchi-san of Yamauchi designs the specifications of the clothes himself in order to make the most of the characteristics of this fabric.
Furthermore,
Back side.
Armhole.
Side of body.
Do you understand?
Even the edges of the fabric at the back seam are left uncut.
Normally, when it comes to woven clothing, the brand overlocks even the parts that would be hidden by the seam allowance, and goes to great lengths to create the most minute detail possible, but with this item, they make the most of the characteristics of the fabric by leaving the edges exposed.
But the table looks like this:
Even though it's a T-shirt, the stitching is so fine that the stitching looks like a series of dots.
Isn't that crazy?
I've never seen a T-shirt like this anywhere else.
Again, here is a photo of the back seam...
What's best about this T-shirt is that it is sewn like a "shirt."
To be specific, it is "woven fabric".
Normally, highly elastic materials like this are sewn using stitching techniques designed for cut-and-sew garments, so that the seams can also stretch and contract.
But this one is not like that. Both the front and back of the seam look like they are sewn into a shirt.
This is not a typical specification at all, but rather the essence of Yamauchi's manufacturing.
Yamauchi has always sought to deepen his knowledge of how to make clothes using woven fabrics.
So, how can we create a highly elastic knitted fabric that meets Yamauchi's specifications? After much consideration, we arrived at this specification.
To achieve this, we use a technique called "adhesive interfacing" that is narrower than the seam allowance and affixes it to all seam allowances in order to "fix the seam allowance."
And then I finish it off with a lockstitch sewing machine.
All of it. All of the seam allowances.
Well, what that is is...
There are definite benefits for the wearer.
This is the surprising beauty when worn.
Seriously, it doesn't feel as casual as wearing a regular T-shirt.
The beauty of how you look when you wear it is immeasurable.
The reason is that by fixing the seam allowance, the "framework of the T-shirt" is properly established, allowing the beauty of the outline designed by Yamauchi to be fully displayed.
However, this means that it doesn't feel stiff at all when worn.
- The seams harden, creating a beautiful outline for the T-shirt's framework.
- Highly stretchy fabric for easy freedom of movement.
These two elements blend together beautifully.
It's impressive.
There is no such T-shirt.
Of course, there is also a sense of freedom in wearing a T-shirt, so I think it would be great for adult gentlemen.
This is a super excellent T-shirt.
The originality of the craftsmanship, the look of the clothes, and the comfort when wearing them.
It's rare to find a T-shirt that combines all these elements at such a high level.
For those of you who already know about it, the existence of this T-shirt may not be new to you.
However, I feel that this T-shirt has more than just "newness"; it has the status of a "classic piece of clothing."
Ah, but I don't think this color has ever been available before.
Newcomer.
"CHARCOAL NAVY".
I tried to take photos as close to the actual item as possible, but the colors have their own unique nuances.
Well, in terms of usability, it's the same as the black one.
It feels like a slightly lighter version of black.
Whether you already know about Yamauchi or not, I think you'll be able to really appreciate the quality of their clothing, so I highly recommend giving it a try.
I think that by the end of this summer, this is a T-shirt that will likely make you look back and think, "I wore this a lot."
Because that's what I did.
And, oh yeah.
This fabric is available in jackets and pants, so you can create a summer set-up style.
A super comfortable T-shirt and pants set for summer is quite a nice touch.
In terms of size range, the brand offers the full range of sizes.
Because it's a T-shirt, it's not tight fitting but rather designed to have a natural amount of room.
I am 167cm tall and weigh 53kg, and the smallest size 2 fits me best.
I have sizes 2 and 3 from past seasons, and even going up one size to size 3 works just fine.
For someone of my build, size 3 is a little large, but it's not at all loose and oversized.
However, if you want to highlight the beautiful shape of the T-shirt, I don't think you need to go up a size.
2. For those who usually choose size S clothes.
3 for size M.
4 in L.
That's the standard way to choose, but if you want to have a little extra room in your pants because it's summer, I think it's best to choose one size up.
If you are over 180cm tall, you should automatically get a 5.
Well, the online store lists the official size measurements of the brand, so please refer to them.
Take a look at Yamauchi's T-shirt.
