It's been a while since I last wrote about GERNOT LINDNER glasses.
That's because when the products were delivered, we had the most variety we've ever had.
I think now is the right time.

Some customers have said that our products reign as the "best of the best" when it comes to eyewear products, and I think there are quite a few people who see it that way.
As I wrote in a previous blog, as a clothing store, I thought it would be a bad idea to carry glasses, since there is Ihara from Okayama Megane Shoten located nearby, so I never looked deeply into glasses brands.
So, although I don't know much about the eyewear industry or the market, I didn't choose to carry them on a "relative" basis, but rather decided to carry them on an "absolute" basis, so I didn't compare them to other brands, I was simply attracted to GERNOT LINDNER.
However, since we are unable to adjust glasses or replace lenses, we have partnered with the aforementioned Okayama Megane Shoten, and after shopping at our store, we ask that if possible, you bring your glasses to Okayama Megane Shoten.
From what I have heard from customers who have purchased GERNOT LINDNER eyeglasses up until now, it seems that they have received extremely courteous service from the staff at Okayama Megane Shoten, for which we are extremely grateful.
And, oh yeah.
Some of you may already know this, but Okayama Megane-ten will be opening a store in Hiroshima city around July.
I'm sure the people of Hiroshima and nearby areas are very excited.
So, the defining feature of GERNOT LINDNER glasses is the material they are made of.
All are made as "silver" glasses, but they are made of "Sterling Silver 925" .
Regular "Silver 925" contains 92.5% silver, with the remaining 7.5% being an alloy, but as long as it is classified as "Silver 925", there is no specification as to what that alloy is.
However, when it comes to "Sterling Silver 925", the rule is that it is 92.5% silver and 7.5% "only copper" .
Only items that meet these requirements can be called "Sterling Silver 925."
And of course, GERNOT LINDNER's glasses are made of sterling silver 925.
But, I don't think that "Sterling Silver 925" is necessarily superior to "Silver 925".
Even with 925 silver, I think there are some that are at the level of poop, and some that are at the level of an absolute god.
That's why our only jewelry, "DAN TOMIMATSU," is available in both gold and 925 silver, and we believe the quality is divine.
What this means is that you shouldn't just jump at the chance because it's 925 sterling silver.
In the end, I think the most important thing is the quality of the silver, and in addition to that, what is put into the 7.5% alloy, in what ratio , and how it is shaped .
That is, with cooking.
For example, even if an old guy like me who hardly ever cooks were to make something using high-quality, delicious ingredients from around the world, it wouldn't be anything tasty at all.
On the other hand, you can imagine that if a top chef were to cook using ingredients that are commonly sold at supermarkets, he would create a delicious dish.
So, you can think of GERNOT LINDNER as a combination of the best of both of the above.
It gives the impression of a first-class chef cooking using the finest ingredients.
Gernot Lindner, founder of Lunor, a world-renowned eyeglass designer, and collector of antique eyeglasses, is now over 80 years old. As the culmination of his career, he has established a dedicated factory in Germany for the production of sterling silver 925 eyeglasses.
This brand uses silver, which is said to be the most difficult material to use for eyeglass frames.
What's more , each frame is a genuine "forged" product, pressed little by little in multiple stages.
So far, I have only introduced the "GL-151" and "KYOTO" models on this blog, but as I said earlier, I now have a few more variations that you can take a look at, so I will introduce them in order.

GL-151 is a panto type with no nose pads.
The lens width is 44mm, the height is 37.5mm, and the distance between the lenses is 24mm.
Those who are knowledgeable about glasses will be able to see from the above numbers that the lenses are small and relatively close to the center.
All GERNOT LINDNER glasses are small and positioned close to the center of the face, like this.
This is because antique glasses are at the core of what the brand does.
Gernot is also a world-renowned collector of antique glasses, and he says that in the past, there were silver glasses made from a material called silver 800.
Apparently, at that time glasses were necessary and were a sign of the privileged class who could read and write, and for that reason glasses in the past were often made from expensive materials.
That's why GERNOT LINDNER glasses have a smaller front compared to other brands.
Some models do not come with nose pads as with regular glasses.
This is called a single bridge, and it comes in several height settings depending on the brand.

All of the Gernot Lindner single bridge models we carry are produced by Middle Bridge.
The reason is that all three of the above have different nose heights, but while the European bridge has a sharp shadow that looks cool, it is too high for us Japanese.
On the other hand, Asian bridges are easy for Japanese people to wear, but I felt that the contrast of the glasses themselves would be too flat.
That's why I ordered a "middle bridge" model that complements the strengths and weaknesses of both the European bridge and the Asian bridge.
I myself have had no problems with the Middle Bridge, and I think that those who have used it so far have also had no problems with it.
As for the GL-151 model, I ordered it through the regular GOLF TEMPLE.
This golf temple is available in two lengths: 140mm and 150mm.
In my experience, 140mm is best for people with small faces or women.
I think 150mm is a typical size for men.
The GL-151 is authentic yet has a very neat appearance.

Next up is this.
Double bridge type GL-253.
The shape is very similar to the GL-151 mentioned above, but the size of the lenses is 44mm wide, 40mm tall, and the distance between the lenses is 24mm.
Compared to GL-151, it is 2.5mm larger vertically.
GL-253 is connected by two bridges of different thicknesses.
It also has something called a "clings," which is a nose pad that is separate from the frame.

This cling nose pad is also made of 925 sterling silver.
Even among GERNOT LINDNER models, this one has a slightly larger lens frame, but I think it has a pretty nice feel to it.
I'm sure this model would be suitable for changing the lenses to tinted ones to make them into sunglasses.
The GL-151 seen earlier had golf temples, but these were ordered with "adjustable temples," a major feature of GERNOT LINDNER.
Adjustable specifications were one of the features found in antique glasses.
Unlike the golf temple type that hooks over the ears, these adjustable temples are worn by holding them over the head.
I don't think this is a feature you see very often in other glasses, so I really like this adjustable temple type as a distinctive feature of GERNOT LINDNER.
Since these are imported glasses, all Japanese people will need to have the fitting adjusted, so if you get the fitting done properly, you can wear them comfortably.
What's more, the adjustable design means that you can adjust the temple length yourself when wearing the glasses to get the perfect fit.

This feature is also common to all GERNOT LINDNER glasses.

This part also fits perfectly.
Usually, this joint is slightly misaligned or has some unevenness, but Gernot seems to take great care to create this part so that it is completely flat and precise.

The model is called KYOTO.
There are two models of KYOTO, "KYOTO I" and "KYOTO II", which differ in the size of the front frame.
The one above is the larger KYOTO II.
The one below is KYOTO I, which is small.

The front lens of the KYOTO II above is 42mm wide and 39mm tall.
The KYOTO I below has a front lens width of 39.5mm and height of 37mm.
The lenses are both 24mm wide.
I'm small at 167cm tall, so I wear KYOTO I glasses, and when I first saw the sample, I thought that the front lens size of GERNOT LINDNER was definitely small.
That's why, with my physique, I was tempted to pick up the KYOTO II.
But, it's no wonder that it was designed and developed by a living legend in the eyewear world.
Since I'm petite, the smaller KYOTO I is definitely more suitable for me.
When I wear them every day, I always feel the quality of GERNOT LINDNER and the significance of their design.
It's a crown pant style, with a straight, angular top - although technically it's slightly curved.
The bottom round that combines with it.
I like this combination of designs because they can be worn as a standard piece on an everyday basis, and yet they look just a little, just a little bit different.

The overall shine has dulled and the luster has become heavy.

I like the natural changes that occur in high-quality materials like this, so I occasionally wipe them with a glasses cleaner, but I tend to leave the changes that occur with use as they are.

It takes a little skill to put it on, but once you get used to it it's a breeze. I'll tell you about it in store.

The GL-250 is a double bridge model with a crown pantot design, just like the KYOTO.
The front dimensions are 43mm wide, 39mm tall, and 24mm between the lenses.
It is designed to be 1mm wider than KYOTO II.
In addition, the double bridge itself is slightly different in thickness from the double bridge of the GL-253 introduced earlier.
Everything changes depending on the shape of each model.
It's not just a design difference.

GL-153 and GL-157 are round glasses types.
Both models have the same single-bridge middle bridge and adjustable temples as before.
The larger circle on the front is GL-153.
The GL-153 is 42mm wide and 41mm tall, with 24mm between the frames.
The GL-157 is 39mm wide, 38mm tall, and 24mm thick.
Although these are round glasses, they are not perfectly round and are designed to be 1mm larger on the sides.
This makes it feel very balanced.
These round glasses, GL-153 and GL-157, seem to have a noticeably wider and thicker front frame than the GL-151 and KYOTO that we carry in our store.
Maybe it's because it's the most classic type.
However, as mentioned above, rather than simply using the same material and giving each model a different shape, Gernot also designs the thickness of the frame itself to suit each model in his opinion.
These glasses are very simple and do not have nose pads, but because of this, you can fully enjoy the "contrast created by the strong and weak lines" of the sterling silver 925 in just one pair of glasses.
They're not just replicating antique glasses.
I think that's what's so amazing about GERNOT LINDNER.

All GERNOT LINDNER eyeglasses sold in our store are finished in "SN" finish, which is called "Silver Natural".
