Daisuke Tanabe "Syvash"

Hello.

This is Noguchi from CASANOVA&CO.

daisuke tanabe "syvash", which I announced the other day.

It will be held for three days starting this Friday, the 14th.

This event with Daisuke Tanabe will be an order-based production for specific items.

These specific items, which I will introduce later, are from the 25AW season, which was just announced at last month's exhibition.

And the word "syvash", which I have quoted as the event title, is the theme of daisuke tanabe's 25AW season.

"syvash" = the Rotten Sea

This satellite photo is the season visual for daisuke tanabe.

If you actually search on Google Maps, you can see a lake with a very strange color.

The location is between southern Ukraine and the Crimean Peninsula.

This Rotten Sea is a lake located inland and not connected to the sea. In summer, temperatures rise, causing rapid evaporation of the lake's water, emitting a rotten, foul odor, hence it is called "Syvash" in the local language.

The lake appears pink in the season visual not because it's been processed, but because its high salt concentration also affects its unique ecosystem, causing it to have this color.

The Rotten Sea of the Crimean Peninsula is currently under Russian control due to the war, but in fact, not only in the real world but also in the fictional world, there is a place inspired by the ecosystem of this Rotten Sea.

That is "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" by Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli.

In Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, the story depicts modern humans, including Nausicaä, attempting to coexist with the toxic forest (which is the "Rotten Sea" in Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind) that spread after a great war.

...That's a simple summary of the movie version of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.

However, it seems that is only the story of the movie version.

I didn't know because I'm not familiar with Ghibli works, but the original manga version of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind apparently has a different ending.

In the original manga, the Rotten Sea is an ecosystem artificially created by ancient humans, and it is said to have the role of purifying the world that modern humans, including Nausicaä, have polluted.

In other words, the Rotten Sea, which emits toxic gases, is actually an artificial entity trying to purify the natural environment.

...I feel like the conversation has strayed quite a bit from daisuke tanabe, but don't worry.

Everything is connected.

Let's return to daisuke tanabe for a moment.

daisuke tanabe's 2025AW season, which we will introduce at this event, is the third collection.

In other words, his debut was in the Autumn/Winter 2024 season.

In those two seasons, 24AW and 25SS, daisuke tanabe has presented collections based on apocalyptic scenes and the ambiguous correlation between the spiritual world and the real world.

While those who can visit on the 15th or 16th will be able to hear about the deeper stories of each collection directly from Mr. Tanabe, such a worldview has influenced the design and colors of his clothes. Most of Daisuke Tanabe's clothes until now have been achromatic colors like white, black, and gray, or beige reminiscent of earth and sand.

From the futuristic impression of the cutting and details, there was something that made one feel the image of future humans trying to survive in a ruined world.

Amidst all this, comes the upcoming 25AW season.

The color symbolizing the collection was green.

This collection made strong use of green, signaling that life has begun and the ecosystem of daisuke tanabe has come alive, moving away from the post-apocalyptic worldview of the previous two seasons.

Therefore, this 25AW collection expresses the struggle between ruined lands and artificial structures after conflict, and natural elements like flora and fauna.

These photos inserted into the 25AW look, while having a decadent atmosphere, also convey a sense of coexistence with nature.

The inspiration for this collection was the real-world "Rotten Sea" with its unique ecosystem in the still-contested Crimean Peninsula, and the fictional-world "Rotten Sea" created between artificial objects and natural elements after conflict.

This is the meaning of "syvash" as the theme for daisuke tanabe's current season.

Therefore, the 25AW season collection is not only continuous with Mr. Tanabe's previous collections, but also contains messages about current social conditions and international issues, and incorporates sampling techniques from works and cultures that have influenced society.

It's not a retroactive theme setting; rather, it's an output achieved by adding Mr. Tanabe's own experience and philosophical essence to a pre-determined theme, all developed through fabric development and communication with artisans.

It's too incredible, isn't it?

One brain is not enough, and that sense of balance is truly amazing.

Having so many drawers of knowledge and ideas within himself at the age of 20, I believe, is a result of Mr. Tanabe's life experiences.

But, I think this is the most important thing after all: the quality of the clothes.

It's not about whether he's doing difficult things or using expensive fabrics, but how he materializes the deeply thought-out ideas in Daisuke Tanabe's mind into clothing.

From that perspective, I believe Daisuke Tanabe is doing something extremely high-level.

Of course, the fabric development and material selection are also wonderful, but Daisuke Tanabe's clothes are truly unique to him.

What I felt most strongly in the 2025AW collection was...

the shearling.

Something incredible appeared.

I really pushed the brand to the limit because I wanted everyone to see this.

But I truly think it's worth seeing.

"Unprecedented shearling."

Tomorrow, I will properly introduce each piece of clothing.

This time, I didn't talk about the clothes at all, so I'll write properly next time. LOL
